I found out him about a year ago around the same time I started taking guitar playing a little bit more seriously and began writing my own music because I was just bored of playing nickleback, lynyrd skynyrd, john mayar, and Jack johnson type of shit without having my own creative mix into it. It was as if I adopted styles so foreign they were uncomfortable and overall distasteful to my own ear. Then I came across Kingbastards - Distill- [ m a t u i t ] - [ My Head Is A Balloon ]- [ not another love song ] and quickly burned them to a cd and listened and wrote the tab out for these songs after listening to them on repeat in my car after a shitty breakup, these songs actually played part in pulling me through feeling buried in shitty unhappiness and I began writing music and recording. I sent him a message hoping he would review a piece I made for a friend I lost because he himself inspired me to even have the guts to record by being so powerful with his music to me. His review on a piece I shoddily made at that time gave me hope and courage to continue doing what made me happy and gave my whole life reason-music.

I've spent sunrise after sunrise listening to his music playing my guitar on the beach and spent nights staring at the moon drinking listening to his music swaying with a smile across my face feeling like my head was a balloon and even though I had thanked him for his music I'm not sure he will actually know how much gratitude I have for his music and how even listening to his old acoustic work still inspires me to write new songs.
